California College Entrance Requirements
UC Entrance Requirements
- 4 years of college preparatory English
- 2 years: 1 year World History, 1 year U.S History
- 3 years to include Algebra 2/Integrated Math 3 (4 years recommended)
- 2 years of Lab Science in 2 of the following: biology, chemistry, physics, physiology (3 years recommended)
- 2 years of same foreign language (3 years recommended)
- 1 year of a Visual/Performing Art
- 1 year of additional college prep classes
- GPA - above a 3.0 eligible to apply
- All required courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher
- Extra points for up to eight semesters (4 year long classes) of honors level and AP courses
CSU Entrance Requirements
- 4 years of college preparatory English
- 2 years: 1 year World History, 1 year U.S. History
- 3 years of Math to include Algebra2/Integrated Math 3
- 2 years of a Lab Science (biological and physical)
- 2 years of same foreign language
- 1 year of a Visual/Performing Art
- 1 years of additional college prep classes
- GPA - 2.99 or higher eligible for admission consideration regardless of test scores. GPA below 2.00 ineligible
- All required courses must be completed with grade of "C" or higher
Community College
- Student must be 18 or have a high school diploma or equivalency to a diploma to enroll
- Honors programs are available for students interested in more challenging course work
- Most Community Colleges offer the Transfer Agreement Program
A-G Requirements
To be considered for admission to a University of California or California State University, high school students must take a minimum of 15 UC approved college preparatory classes. Students must earn a minimum of a “C” grade in the A-G courses in order for the course to count towards meeting the requirement. Students do not have to complete the A-G requirements to graduate from high school.

History / Social Science (2 years) "A"
Two years of history/social science, including one year of world history, cultures and geography; and one year of US history, or one-half year of US history AND one-half year of American government. - English (4 years) "B"
Four years of college-preparatory English. - Math (3 years required; 4 years recommended) "C"
Three years of college preparatory mathematics; the minimum pattern is Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math II and Integrated Math III. - Laboratory Science (2 years required; 3 years recommended) "D"
Two years of laboratory science in at least two of these three subjects: biology, chemistry, and physics. - Language Other than English (2 years required; 3 years recommended) "E"
Two years of the same language other than English. - Visual and Performing Arts (1 year) "F"
A single yearlong visual or performing arts class such as dance, drama, music, or visual art (drawing, painting, etc.). - College Preparatory Elective (1 year) "G"
One year chosen from additional "A-F" courses beyond those used to satisfy the requirements above, or courses that have been approved elective classes.
